Game of Thrones Season 8 Premiere (no spoilers) at Replay Lincoln Park Chicago!!

By

Yep, I’m sneaking in a Game of Thrones post among my Star Wars Celebration Chicago adventures.  Took a very brief time-out from the Celebration to partake in Game of Thrones Season 8 premiere festivities on season premiere night, April 14th!!  I went to a Game of Thrones pop-up bar in Chicago called Replay Lincoln Park. It was north of the hotel I stayed at, about a $12 Uber ride to get there.

This bar literally was a Game of Thrones pop-up, with life-size pop-up figures everywhere!!  It was awesome, this place was totally decked out, complete with themed menus, a wall of faces behind one of the bars, and a photo op Iron Throne.  So I’m sitting on the Iron Throne at the beginning of Season 8, maybe I’ll be the one still sitting on it at the end, since everyone else from the show is probably going to DIE!!  I still can’t forget the quote from Ramsay when he was torturing Theon way back in Season 3 (or was it 2?), “If you think this has a happy ending, you haven’t been paying attention.”  It haunts me to this day.  We shall see, as the end of the series is upon us!!

A couple of drink menus, I love the “Winter is Beer”:

The Night King and a White Walker, along with Drogon under one of the screens in the bar.  The last episodes of Season 7 were being played up to the time when the Season 8 premiere started:

Pop-up figures galore:

This was an amazing event to take part in, with everyone in the bar absolutely glued to the screen during the airing of the premiere, and then the reaction of the room any time something of interest happened on the show.  It was wonderful to get caught up in it all!!  I was glad to have been able to see it at its live air time, otherwise I would have had to hide from the Internet in an attempt to avoid spoilers, but thankfully I didn’t have to do that, as people even at Star Wars Celebration the next day were talking about it!!
