Went on a riverboat cruise during my visit to Dawson. It went up the Yukon River a little way and then back down in the other direction before returning to the starting point. The excursion took around two hours to complete. We had a guide who told us about some of the sights we saw along the way. You could hang out inside or outside if you wanted. Seating was inside along with refreshments available for purchase.

It was nice and hot out although with being on any boat, it can get breezy! I still managed to not put my hoodie on, but don’t think I didn’t have it!

Here’s a slightly better view of the ferry that takes vehicles across the river (below). The riverboat had to cross the ferry’s path. Sounds like the ferry is only needed four months of the year because the river freezes over for the other months and people can drive, walk, or sled across it:

Some pictures of a community just north of Dawson living ‘off the grid’. Off the grid was defined as having no running water or electricity. Apparently lots of people living and working in Dawson have homes off the grid. I forgot to mention Dawson’s population as per Google as of 2017: 1,410. Sounds like there are more people here in the summer months though, as people come up to work.

An old abandoned ship:

More off the grid living… There was what looked like a camp to the left of these canoes, but it was very hard to see through the trees:

Someone with their puppies enjoying the river:

The pier where the riverboat sits, yes there was canoeing and kayaking available:

More buildings in Dawson (away from the main drag) seen from the water:

The river was churning and brown everywhere we went on it, except this one area not far to the south of Dawson:

It was a beautiful day on the water!!
