Star Wars Beads for Charity at Calgary Expo

By

Got creative again for this year’s Calgary Expo and crafted a number of Star Wars bag clips (or tree hangers!) and magnets out of Perler beads. This was for Tosche Station, the Calgary Star Wars Fanforce group I’ve been a member of for the past almost 4 years.  Tosche Station does fundraising every year for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada and two of our biggest events are the Calgary (April) and Edmonton (September) Expos each year.  These are comics and entertainment events. We set up a booth at each Expo and sell Star Wars merchandise, with 100% of the money collected going to the charity.  All merch is donated by group members.

Below is a snapshot of roughly half of the booth, including this year’s raffle chair, Ahsoka Tano!!  No I did not make the chair, we have some very talented people in the group that craft one or two for each event! At previous shows we have had Darth Maul, C-3PO, BB-8, Kylo Ren, Chewbacca, and various Stormtroopers.  They look amazing and I hope to win one!!  Each chair gets raffled off and the draw occurs on the last day of the Expo.

Aaaaand the total is in, at this year’s Calgary Expo we raised just over $2000.00 for charity!!  Future fundraising events for Tosche Station include the Edmonton Expo in September and then the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s annual walk in October.
