This was a super cool idea for a geocache, an exchange of any kind would be neat however; a keychain exchange was straight up my alley being that I’ve been packing around video game themed keychains that I made out of Perler beads for the precise purpose of dropping them in caches as SWAG. So when I visited Slave Lake, AB, I had to find this cache and see what it was all about, and hopefully drop some of my own keychains there. And I did!
The cache wasn’t overly difficult to find, but it did involve lurking around the Slave Lake Forest Area Fire Centre. I parked in the lot and a couple people came out to their vehicles, but no one seemed to care I was there, so ok! Into the trees I went once everyone was gone. Sneaky me, riiiiight…

The cache itself was just about too high to reach, but I managed! Inside was a logbook and a plastic baggie full of keychains. Probably could have gotten a better picture of them if I took them out of the baggie!

I took a bottle opener and key tag keychains, and left some of my own behind, along with some travel bugs I’ve been itching to send on their way, two of which happen to be keychains as well!!

There are quite a few more geocaches in Slave Lake, but like many of the areas I’m visiting during my summer road trip travels, I don’t want to spend too much time in one place. I could get really carried away and attempt to find more in each town I visit, but then my trip would probably turn into months instead of weeks, ha. I’ll be satisfied at finding one or two for now!
