While the welcome sign at the Northwest Territories / British Columbia border is very nice looking, this border crossing was a bit underwhelming compared to the Alberta side. This sign was the only thing there! No fancy visitor’s centre, no monuments, statues, bathrooms or anything. I suppose it’s because this side of NWT is a lot more remote than the Alberta side, and the Alberta side would typically be where travelers would go to head up to Yellowknife.

There was actually one more thing here… The geocache!! I did not forget about it, ha! Had some issues though, and some fears. I saw the cache easily enough (spoiler alert in the picture below!) but I could not reach it, not even close. It was sitting in a spot probably twice as tall as me. And of course there was not a soul around, except the bear I saw not far from here before I cautiously parked and got out of my truck a few feet away from the sign. Behind my truck was immediate woodland.
I considered getting my little step ladder out of my truck bed, but even with that I was not entirely convinced I would be able to reach the cache in order to sign the log. And I did not want to linger due to the bear threat. 😛 I have had bear spray with me the whole time on this trip, but it’s not like I want to use it!! Where are all the humans??! They are two hours south in Fort Nelson I guess. With the amount of time I stood there contemplating, I probably could have got the ladder out. The cache description did mention if I couldn’t reach it to just take a picture at the sign, which had to suffice!!
