Yukon Ho!

Yukon Ho! For some reason that phrase has stuck with me… It’s from the Calvin & Hobbes book from way back when called ,’Yukon Ho!‘.  I owned that book, and I’m pretty sure everyone I knew had it too! This kinda makes me want to read it again.  Whatever happened to Calvin & Hobbes anyway? I suppose Calvin grew up. I hope he’s still anti-reality!  Aaah the good ol’ days!

So I reached the BC / Yukon border, yippee!  Funny how Highway 97 (The Alaska Highway) goes… Shortly before the ‘official’ border, it actually dips into Yukon for a bit and then back into BC.  Pretty sure I saw an old worn out sign that may have said ‘Welcome to Yukon‘ or something like that, but that piece of highway is pretty remote, same with the part that goes back into BC.

The official sign was at a rest stop so it was easy to pull over and park somewhere to get a picture.  Larger Than Life indeed!!  And guess what, there’s a reason I’m not wearing my hoodie in this pic… NO BUGS!!!  What the heck?  I expected the bug problem to continue on from NWT, but there were no giant horseflies or wasps which was certainly promising going forward!!

Not much else to say here, there was nothing else at the sign and no humans around either so had to do a selfie.  There was a rest stop on the BC side on the other side of the highway. The weather was warm and it was so nice to not be wearing a hoodie!
